[REVIEW] Holika Holika Makeup Starter

So this is a review on something that I bought long ago :P Well I only got to use it recently when I needed my makeup to last, so I finally opened it. Hehe. Because usually I only need my makeup for half a day, it's usually pretty lasting. Used it on Social Media Day btw ^^

It's like a cotton pad soaked in a primer (I guess..) and it has 2 sides to it. The salesgirl said that one side removes dead skin and dirt while the other moisturizes and massages the primer into your face.

Let's call this side A.
The side that removes the dead skin and dirt, has purple dots which are slightly (only slightly) rubbery. Rub it in circular motions onto your face. The primer wets the whole thing, so there's primer on this side too.

And let's call this side B.
The side that applies the primer. It's just embossed cotton and it supposedly is soaked with more primer on this side.

I think it's logic is that side A removes dirt and all, so the primer on side B gets better absorbed and thus holds on longer to your makeup. I'm not sure if it actually works in getting off the dirt and dead skin in the first place (because there is no visible dirt on the pad after use) and it doesn't feel very "exfoliating".

It's like a pocket that you slip your fingers into for easier application!

Around 8cm in diameter.

It has actually more than enough liquid you can use on your whole face for once. I used it twice, and there's still quite some liquid left (but bacteria... hehe) so I wouldn't advise using it for more than once though. It's most probably a supposedly one-use thing. It costs $2.50 in the Holika Holika store in Wisma, for one piece. Pretty pricey. It would be better to get those in tubes, in terms of value :)

I wouldn't get it again.

  1. I got this as a free sample and was like "What the heck do I do with this?" Only English words 'Make-Up Starter.' Your simple review was much more simple than translating the scary-covered-in-Korean-back. Thank you! And I agree not worth it if it's that price, but samples are the best.

[SAMPLE REVIEW] Skinfood Salmon Eye Cream

Hi! I got this a sachet of Skinfood's Salmon Eye Cream with some Korean cosmetics, and only recently I felt like trying it :P

I know right! Salmon?! On your skin?! Well, that's Skinfood for you. Salmon is not as bad as.. CREAMY CHEESE MASK! Well, I like cheese in my food but not on my face. *squirms*

It does not smell one bit like salmon. Smells a lot like jasmine flowers, A LOT!!! An overly strong smell of jasmine, which is weird since salmon is used instead. *50 points deducted*

It's a white cream, which I feel is oily and fatty, and only a little is required. This sachet lasted me for 5 times, for both eyes! Not the best texture for an eye brightening cream. I believe this is gonna be bad for people with oily or problematic skin and may not be able to withstand the richness of this eye cream.

Stays really oily for at least 10 minutes, felt like the absorption was reeeaaalllyyy slow. Besides, I've used it for 5 times and there are no significant changes. No brighteni…

[HAUL] Holika Holika!

The first branch of Holika Holika opened its doors in Singapore @ Wisma Atria today! Supposedly at 12, but when I reached there, they were still drilling and hanging stuff, and said to be back in 30 mins.

A huge poster of its ambassador at the side of its shop, CN Blue!!!!!!! Mysterious Magic Cosmetics~ (and endorsed by guys and a cat.. Hmm mysterious enough)

Before it was open! Yet to pull down its blinds~ It's a shop tucked at the corner, beside an escalator. Near Cotton On!
Couldn't get a nice picture of its sign! But you can see a bit of its interior, which is a lavender colour and has nice shelves! It goes with a mystical or magical theme :)

My mini haul from the store! VERY DE EX PLS The highly raved about egg soap @ $20.00 for 2 eggs Make-up Starter primer @ $2.50 per piece Wonder Drawing Eyeliner Auto Stick @ $10.00 Enamel Magicara Long and Curling FREE hehehe

Its a small tube since its free! But its pretty good! There's fibre in it and the brush is kinda special…

Hahaha okay so I received over 10 emails on whether I have an extra Macdonald's Hello Kitty to let go or not. Fact is that I didn't buy any >.< So I decided to create a blog post where you Kitty collectors can interact and hopefully get a reply from a potential buyer/seller. Simply comment on this post! :)
